INDIA ONE SOLAR THERMAL POWER PLANT
The beginnings of India One Power Project began in 1995. Taking help from the Renewable Energy departments within both the Indian and German Governments, we have manged to build an incredible asset that ensures a clean and sustainable energy supply for our Shantivan campus in Abu Road, whilst also delivering electricity off the grid for a further 10,000 residents of Abu community.
India One Project
In spring 2017 the Brahma Kumaris and the World Renewal Spiritual Trust (WRST) completed the design, development and installation of India One, a 1 MW solar thermal power plant in Abu Road, Rajasthan. This research project uses the in-house developed 60m² parabolic dish and features an innovative thermal storage for continuous operation. India One generates heat and power for a campus of 25,000 people as well as delivering electricity off the grid for a further 10,000 residents of Mt Abu. It is a milestone for decentralised clean power generation with storage in India.
Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi praised the Brahma Kumaris for their contribution and incentive when he addressed the 80th anniversary celebrations of Brahma Kumaris via video conferencing. President Modi went on to confirm India’s commitment towards clean energy and his desire to have India generate 40% energy from non-fossil fuels by 2030.

Golo Pilz shares ‘insider’ information on how the Brahma Kumaris have managed to create and develop the India One project
Making a difference in a World that's ready for Change
A Dream Becomes Reality
Since the mid 90’s, Brahma Kumaris adopted the philosophy of Renewable and Sustainable Environments and became one of the key developers and promoters of renewable energies in India. In order to strengthen its resources the Brahma Kumaris worked in close liaison with its sister organization the World Renewal Spiritual Trust (WRST), also a registered charity trust. In 2011 the WRST was recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization by the Ministry of Science and Technology of which we are very proud.
Team India One
“India One” team consists of 40 engineers, scientists and support staff and dedicated volunteers coordinating the project activities onsite. As Brahma Kumaris, they practice daily meditation, conscious assimilation of virtues and along with their professional background, their spiritual life style was key to bringing this breakthrough technology to successful implementation. The team works in close liaison with number of engineers and manufacturers in India and abroad including: the Fraunhofer Institute (ISE) of Freiburg, Germany and IndiaCare of Berlin, a long standing partner of WRST in renewable energy projects.
Our Project Partners
“India One”, Brahma Kumaris & World Renewal Spiritual Trust (WRST) secured funds from:
- The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE, Govt. of India) under its research & development scheme.
- The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) via its bilateral “ComSolar” initiative through the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ).
We graciously thank you for assisting us…
It’s a Heart Felt Thanks…
We wish to formally congratulate so many people who have been involved in this project – in particular BK Golo Pilz (and many other BK Seniors) who have always had the firm vision of this wonderful idea becoming a reality and staying with every inch of the project, inspiring so many other BK’s to join him.
We also wish to acknowledge all the hundreds and hundreds of people involved in the heaving lifting of this project who have worked tirelessly and admirably behind the scenes to make this project a successful reality.
Congratulations, Congratulations, Congratulations!
