A Slice of Pizza Heaven

Pizza Heaven

Yep, we understand…

It’s Friday night, the week has finished and it’s time to kick back, put your feet up and eat your favorite comfort food.  Let’s face it… Nothing beats a yummy home made pizza!  It proudly takes it’s place amongst the original comfort food suitable for any occasion… 🙂

There are 3 parts to this recipe.

  1. Making the base
  2. Cooking the Pizza Sauce
  3. Chopping your toppings

So let’s begin this Vegetarian Delight…

Ingredients:

Making the Base:
2 cups plain flour
75 grams butter(melted)
1 tsp salt
2 tbs sugar
1.5 tsp yeast
150ml – 200ml milk (luke warm)

Cooking Your Pizza Sauce:
3 tbsp tomato paste
1tsp italian herbs
Chili powder to taste (optional)
1/2 tsp curry powder
1/2 tsp sugar
Salt to taste
Dash of pepper

Prepare Your Toppings:
Mushrooms
Pineapples
Capsicum
Tomatoes
Mozarella cheese
Cheddar cheese

Method:

  1. Combine all the Pizza base ingredients into a bowl, mix them thoroughly, then cover the bowl with a damp cloth and leave the dough to rise for 2 hours.
  2. Once the dough has risen, roll it out onto a (floured) large surface and then add to the baking tray once you’ve decided on your desired thickness (thick or thin base).
  3. Bake the pizza base in the oven for 10 mins on 180 degrees celsius on the top shelf until the base is slightly light brown.  Now whilst your waiting for the dough to rise, add all the pizza sauce items together and leave aside until your dough is baked and slightly cooled.
  4. Then remove the pizza base and let cool.  Then spread the pizza sauce over the base taking it to the edges if you prefer.  Finally add the pizza toppings (thickly or thinly) in the desired quantities and pop it in the oven and bake using the middle shelf at 180 degrees celsius for another 15 mins until cheese is golden brown.
  5. After this, break out the pizza knife and cut to size.  Finally dig in (before your kids do) and enjoy…
